Cryptozoology
Almost every time I check the internet now, I see news about new species. Now, this amazes me as much as the next guy, but I’ve always been more interested with creatures we still haven’t discovered, especially those, which, people claim to have seen already. I’m talking about legendary creatures. I’ve heard a lot about these special creatures (humanoids, animal-like beings or even demonic entities), I’ve watched documentaries and heard bizzare stories about them. And there were times when I’d stop to wonder if they were truly real.
Take the manananggal, for example. It’s the original Jeepers Creeper. Part man, part demon, part flying super monster. It’s one of the most popular demonic creatures in Filipino culture, and I just so happened to have a friend who had an experience with it.
My friend tells me his story:
i was in tarlac with my cousins
we had dinner, then my uncle decided to tell us scary stories
btw, we had dinner outside his house
anyway
after dinner, he decided to give us a grand tour of his farm
it was so dark i freaked out
then it was time to sleep
we decided to sleep outside in tents instead of the rooms he provided for us
i slept with my brother and one of my cousins, while his sister and the son of my uncle slept in the other tent
i woke up at around 2 am, and i went to check on my cousins
turns out it was only the girl left
so i told her il sleep with her na lang
we kept the tent open cz it was so hot
he was also fanning me cz i was sweating so hard
just wen i thought i finally went back to sleep
i heard a dog barking
it was followed by a loud flapping sound
it wasnt the wind
it sounded like it came from a big wing
i was sure i was gna die
Okay. Now we move on to a more humanoid creature, bigfoot. Also known as the Yeti, the Sasquatch, man-beast and the Adominable Snowman, this human-like creature has been sighted in many different locations. Perhaps one of the most popular stories about Bigfoot was about Roger Patterson and Robert Gimlin. These two men claim to have filmed a genuine Bigfoot. The short motion picture, now known as the Patterson-Gimlin film, shows a large hairy creature erectly walk on a rocky path. Patterson said the creature gave him a look of “contempt and disgust”. Some claim it to be a very elaborate hoax, some claim it to be real.
These are just among the hundreds of legendary creatures people claim to exist. This, perhaps, shows us that while we think we know almost everything about this world we live in, there is actually a lot we don’t know about it. As it changes, our world more and more becomes a world of mystery. And maybe, just as it revealed the manananggal to my friend and as Patterson and Gimlin revealed Bigfoot to society, in time, this world of ours will reveal it’s secrets to us.

for a second there i thought something was about to happen in that hot tent… lol…
How can a RED ranger be so GREEN minded?
lol… Reminds me of Spiderwick…. anyway…
Summary:
Leo believes in the creatures of myth and lore. He tells the story of his friend who heard flapping wings outside a tent during the night. Leo also tells the story Of Patterson and Gimlin who claim to have documented Yeti. He ends his entry by saying that we live in a world of mystery and there are a lot of things we don’t know, but someday we will figure them out.
Assessment:
I can see that there was some effort put into writing the blog. It’s a fun read and I really had no problem understanding the write-up. The transitions are well thought of so the blog goes very smoothly. As for the content, I can say that the chosen pieces of information are relevant, however, a little inadequate. I seem to remember being required three anecdotes, but I can only see two.
Anyway, nice post all in all.. And I’m pretty sure those creatures exist.. Well, I exist and I’m a mermaid, what do you say to that?

My friend is a neurologist who works on DYSTONIA, a rare type of hereditary disease. It turns ordinary people into monsters by time they’re 40. The brain loses control of the muscles that’s why they twist and grow out of proportion. So aswangs have real basis.
Jezebel: You’re not supposed to be Jezebel but DYEsebel. Napaka-sosyal naman.
Sorry, I fogot. When I was young I thought it was Jezebel so I think I got used to it.
Summary:
Leo believes in folkloric creatures. He narrates his friend’s experience with a manananggal. He also recounts the Patterson-Gimlin account of a Bigfoot sighting.
Assessment:
The writing is easy to understand. It followed the basic format discussed in class. The topic is also quite interesting. I think the only problem with this article is the lack of one more anecdote to complete the requirement.
Yeah. Sorry about that missing anecdote.
Dystonia. o___o. I’ve done some googling on that. Reminded me of Stephen Hawking (but as it turns out, he has ALS, which, in turn, reminded me of Mitch Albom). xD
